Lightopia traces light design's evolution through a fresh lens, situating today's transformation within broader cultural movements. Drawing from the Vitra Design Museum's rarely displayed lighting archive, the collection showcases masterworks by Charlotte Perriand, Le Corbusier, Achille Castiglioni, and Gino Sarfatti alongside contemporary pieces. The volumes examine how light design is shifting—from innovative illumination concepts and smart urban lighting to energy-conscious architectural facades and immersive installations. Featuring works by Troika, Mischer Traxler, and Olafur Eliasson, Lightopia explores light as both technological innovation and emotional force, connecting historical artifacts with modern experiments to reveal humanity's enduring relationship with light across cultures and centuries.
