A few years earlier he had invented his iconic reflective system, the System PH, and the years that followed he made multiple designs following the principles of System PH.

A keen composer himself, Poul Henningsen designed the piano lamp to be the ideal lighting solution for piano players. Together with Louis Poulsen the lamp was initially crafted in aged metal and the glass shades were placed at the end of a long, curved stem, in the fitting shape of a node. The stem was flexible with a tilt range of 25° downwards and 45° backwards to offer a precise lighting adjustment for the pianist. The lamp featured a globular element on the back of the stem functioning as a counterweight to ensure stability while playing.

Dimensions:

Height: 14.3" x Width: 16.4"

Shade: 6.3" x Base: 6"

Materials
Hand-blown four-layered dusty terracotta-coloured glass with sandblasted inner side.
Bottom diffuser: Frosted glass.
Socket housing, shade holder, stem, base and switch: Aged brass brushed with fine hairlines, laquered to preserve finish.

Finishes
Hand-blown four-layered dusty terracotta coloured glass with a sandblasted innerside.
Aged brass, brushed with fine hairlines and lacquered.
The surface is lacquered to preserve finish.

Light source
30W G9

Other information
PH initial is engraved on the switch housing.
Swivel joint which makes the lamp adjustable 45° backwards and 25° forward.

Mounting
9’.
